Field Level Boost
A field level boost determines how important a field is when we're searching in it. An example of when you might want to use this is when a match in the product SKU is more important than a match in the product description. If someone searches for "290" and you have a product with a SKU of 290 and a different product with "290 pounds" in the description, you'd probably want the SKU matching product to come up first.
You can setup a field level boost on the Field Settings page in the SearchSpring management console.
Product Level Boost
A product level boost determines how important a product is. You would use a product level boost when you have a set of products that are more important than other products globally across all searches. Examples of this include:
1. Pushing on sale products to the top of results.
2. Giving a bonus in the search results scoring to products from your in house brand.
3. Moving out of stock products to the end of results.
4. Showing actual products in search results before accessories.
Product level boosts must be setup by SearchSpring support. If you'd like to set one up please contact us.
